Treachery in Nightstone

The city square was a scene of chaos as people tried to flee the abhorrent mimic creature that had sprung to life. The group attacked the giant creature as massive tentacles grabbed people near by lifting them into the air and dropping them into the massive maw of the queen mimic. Acid dripped from the mimic queens mouth and other mimics around the square sprung to life. The city guard joined the city as the heroes of the Trollskull Syndicate focused on the taking down the queen. The attacks of the attacks of the queen were violent and deadly, the acid that oozed from her meltyed armour, and her tentacles could squeeze the life out of people in seconds and then drop them into her ever hungry mouth. The magic weapons of the heroes seemed to cause great pain to the creature, Norbert's Staff of Heroism glowed with power bolstering everyone's resolve. Leomarvis and Bob fired arrows with deadly accuracy, while Addelin and Rayla attacked with spells. Morthos played his magical lute casting magic to strengthen his friends, while Argus channeled his barbarian rage and charged through the quickly closing opening of the gazebo. Argus had taken a chance, believing that once inside th egazebo he would be inside the mimic, and his gamble paid off. Once inside he could see the heart of the mimic queen beating a bove him. He drew back with Rojakiin, his magical greatsword, and with all his might Argus drove Rojakiin into the queens heart. Acid poured down on him and the queen collapsed.

The group rushed to the dead queen searching for Argus, worried that he was dead. He was badly injured but not dead. Addelin healed him but then the group heard a scream. Suddenly gargoyles and vampire thralls were attacking. Eva grabbed Argus and told him and the group to take the princess out of the city. Lady faneara and Lord Miligrod were at the head table standing over a dead King Nightstone. A gargoyle swooped down and took chace, Addelin tried to help him but it all happened to fast and she could not reach him. Suddenly the sky erupted in flame and a giant manticore made of molten lava and obsidian flew overhead its fiery breath destroying buildings and the guards trying to fight the gargoyles. The group grabbed the princess and ran,

While trying to leave the city they were stopped by Lord Miligrod who blocked the alley, a blade of lightning in his hand.

"Morthos, did you really think you could escape me a second time?" Lord miligrod said with menace in his voice.

"I was kind of hoping it would go that way" replied Morthos, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

"You turned my own son against me, he ran away from home, thinks that I am some sort of inhuman, and vile person, this is all your fault".

"Or it could be that he just knows you really well".

"You think this is funny" Lord Miligrod asked "I will have the last laugh". As he said this Morthos got an idea and he cast the spell Tasha's Hideous Laughter. It was a longshot but it worked. The evil Lord Miligrod fell to the ground laughing.

"I guess you were right about that last laugh" Morthos taunted as he and the rest of the group ran past the man debilitated with laughter. The managed to get out of the city and travelled a few miles before taking refuge in the forest.
