Get to know us

We are a community built by and for neurodivergent people, a place where connection, creativity, and belonging come first. Our story began with a simple truth: social opportunities matter. As neurodivergent people ourselves, and as parents of neurodivergent children, we saw how supports changed as our kids grew older. Resources became fewer, and the ones that did exist often focused on “skills training” rather than what was actually missing safe, welcoming spaces to simply be with peers. So we created a program rooted in the belief that social connection is not a luxury. It’s a need. And everyone deserves access to it. What started as a small idea has grown over the past three years into a thriving community that now includes youth, teens, and adults. Our participants have shaped every step of this journey, and they continue to guide what we do and how we grow.

Our Mission

We believe that everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are. Our mission is to create shared social environments where neurodivergent people can connect, explore, and belong, without pressure to mask, perform, or fit into someone else’s expectations. We do this by ensuring that participants inform everything we do. Their voices, needs, and experiences shape our programs, our structure, and our future.

Who We Serve

We serve the neurodivergent community, youth, teens, and adults; because there is a clear and persistent gap in social opportunities designed specifically for neurodivergent people.

Our programs are built to fill that gap by offering:

  • Spaces that honour communication differences

  • Environments that reduce social pressure

  • Opportunities for genuine peer connection

  • A community where neurodivergent identity is respected and celebrated

We are here to create the spaces that should have existed all along.

Our approach is grounded in research, lived experience, and a deep commitment to neurodiversity‑affirming practice. Several elements make our program distinct:

  • The EMBER Framework — Empowerment, Mentorship, Belonging, Engagement, and Respect guide everything we do.

  • A neurodiversity‑affirming philosophy — We honour differences, support autonomy, and reject deficit‑based models.

  • Self‑determination at the core — Participants choose how they engage, what they explore, and how they contribute.

  • Research‑informed design — Our structure is shaped by evidence on social connection, community building, and neurodivergent well‑being.

We are not here to “fix” anyone. We are here to build community, confidence, and connection.

Values in Action

We are more than a program; we are a growing community. This past year, we celebrated our third anniversary with more than 100 people joining us. Participants, families, local business owners, community partners, provincial organizations, and representatives from Trent University all came together to celebrate what we’ve built. Moments like that remind us that this work matters. They show us that the need is real, the impact is meaningful, and the community is ready to grow.

And we are growing. We are expanding our programs, developing new offerings, and preparing to launch groups for youth under 13 — something families have been asking for and something we are excited to begin. Every step forward is shaped by the people who join us. Together, we are building a community where neurodivergent people can show up as themselves and know they belong.
