The Kingslayers

The group travelled along the road north towards Millhaven. The brother Sven, Gren, and Ben travelled with them. The now very large Fleshripper lumbered alongside the group as tall as the horses that pulled the wagon. Leomarvis was filled with excitement as each step took them one step closer to finding more of the stones that would increase the power of Winter's Call. The rest of the group were less excited but were taking turns resting in the wagon on the trip north. There were a few travellers on the road, word was spreading about the death of King Milgrod and the defeat at Relagwall.

The travellers all spoke of how King Milgrod had once been a much kinder ruler, but over the past few years that had changed. The death of his wife had hit him hard but for a time it had made him a more understanding and kind ruler. Most placed the blame on Queen Faneara, those who dared speak of her all said that Milgrod had changed when the king befriended Faneara. He became more withdrawn and then angry. He seemed to lose all empathy for his people even his own family.

On the third day of travel the group came across a lone traveller. She wore resplendent plate mail armour and carried herself as somebody that was proud and skilled at using the sword on her waist. The woman seemed somehow familiar to Argus and Rayla but it was hard to say just how until the woman spoke. She greeted the travellers and Rayla and Argus knew then that this woman was the gold dragon Vorrezenex in human form.

Vorrezenex told Rayla that he knew her parents, and that his sister was a very close friend to her parents. This came as a surprise to Rayla as she did not have memories of her parents. Vorrezenex spoke to Leomarvis as well. Leomarvis had once had the staff of the undead, a powerful artifact that could control the undead. Leomarvis had been hired by 4 kings to retrieve the staff, each not knowing that the others had paid Leomarvis for the service. After finding the item Leomarvis knew that the item was far too powerful to trust to any of the kings and so he hid the staff. To ensure nobody would ever find it Leomarvis then went to a cleric and had all memory of where he hid it erased. Vorrezenex seemed to think the item might be helpful and offered to fly the group to Arrashani where the elves might be able to help recover enough of the memory to locate the staff.

Leomarvis said he would go and try but first he needed to go to Millhaven. To hasten the trip Vorrezenex changed into dragon form and flew to the group close to Millhaven. Vorrezenex then shaped changed back into his human woman form, while Morthos used his disguise self spell to hide his identity as he was still a wanted man in Millhaven. The group entered the city with the guards greeting Vorrezenex as lady Kara. Under this persona the group was accepted into the city as guests of the esteemed lady Kara. It was not long before a messenger arrived at the inn Vorrezenex had led the group to asking Lady Kara to attend to Queen Vera, Lord Milgrods daughter. Morthos was nervous about going to the keep but with his disguise spell figured he might be ok.

Vera was happy to meet the group and knew that they were the Trollskull Syndicate. She was upset about her father's death but revealed that his vampirism had caused him to become cruel and uncaring. She would miss her father but not miss the creature he became. Currently in the city was a man named King Killrose, an elf king from the west. Leomarvis shuddered, Killrose was one of the kings he had swindled and he wanted Leomarvis captured so that the king himself could kill him. With the death of her father Killrose wanted to marry Vera and he had Faneara's blessing to do so. Since her father had taken the army south to fight at Relagwall the city now housed more of Killrose's soldiers than her own. She wanted the groups help in killing Killrose. Leomarvis volunteered for the job.

Vera gave the group the directions to the king's room inside the keep and left it to them to take care of the evil king. She gave Leomarvis the two stones for Winter's Call. Leomarvis set off to kill King Killrose with Argus and Norbert going along to watch out for him. Morthos, Rayla and Bob went to a tavern across the street to wait for the others since Leomarvis was insistent he wanted to do it alone. Leomarvis snuck into the bedroom of the king but the king awoke and a fight ensued. Leomarvis defeated Killrose and the Elven Vampire king died. The guards stationed outside the king's room entered to see Leomarvis leaving.

At the inn Morthos let his disguise fall and started talking with a local bard. She was about to play and asked Morthos to join her. Morthos agreed and went up onto the stage with her. Unexpectedly the bard announced that she had to pleasure to introduce Morthos the renowned bard and that Morthos would be playing with her. Morthos smiled nervously and started playing, all eyes were on him and some were definitely thinking about the bounty that was still out there for him. Then the warning bells started sounding across the city, as the guards started the hunt for the people responsible for King Killrose's death
