It was a peaceful autumn evening, the setting sun painting the sky with brilliant hues of pink, red, orange, and purple. The days had been warmer than typical for this time of year and the people in Norshire were in a celebratory mood. The annual harvest festival was just two weeks away, the two-day celebration would mark the end of the autumn harvest, and it was the last major celebration before winter set in. Jomera Honourhelm and her trade caravan had set up camp behind the Last Mile Inn, they had been delayed when a horse lost a shoe and they had to stop for some quick repairs, the delay meant the inn had filled up leaving no room for her crew.

The crew was making the best of the situation, Morthos the tiefling bard with blue skin and purple hair, played his lute by the campfire. It was a good song, but it was not one of Morthos most inspired performances. Bob had gone off to sit by himself, propped up against the back wall of the inn, while the other Ranger Leomarvis set watch at the perimeter of the camp. The rest of the crew ate dinner by the campfire resting weary bodies that still had three or four days of walking ahead of them. Jomera had said she wanted to get out on the road before the other caravans started moving and potentially slowed her crew down.

Jomera seemed eager to get the trip over with and had been upset with the earlier delay. She had her nephew with her, though it was hard to see how the young teenage boy was related to old dwarf. She had hire two bodyguards, Jorden and Klarita, to stay with her nephew. Jomera had managed to find a villager that was willing to rent out a room in his house where Terric, her nephew, and the bodyguards could stay.

Leomarvis spotted goblins along the hill at the back of the village. He called out to the others in the group alerting them to the danger. This seemed to scare off the goblins and they ran from the village outskirts. The group settled in for the night with Leomarvis deciding he wanted to keep an eye out just in case the goblins returned. Caelynn, the dark elf sorcerer took over the watch from Leomarvis. At some point after that the goblins attacked the village.

Fires rose in a distant part of the village; a Caelyn alerted the rest of the group though Bob was in too deep of a sleep to be roused. Leomarvis climbed up to the roof of the inn while the rest of the group prepared for action. Goblins charged the camp engaging the group in battle. Leomarvis with his high vantage point fired arrows down onto the group. Morthos used his bardic power of vicious mockery to blast the goblin boss with psychic attack. Goblin archers fired at the group, injuring Argus and Bob, which finally awoke Bob from his slumber.

Argus responded by delivering a devastating blow to a goblin attacker. Norbert was very frightened by the goblins, but choked back his fear as he launched a magic missile attack that injured 3 goblins. Addellin blasted another goblin with a firebolt, and seeing how successful that was Caelynn did the same. Leomarvis continued firing arrows from his place upon the roof, while an awakened and angry Bob defeated two goblins that were attacking him. Norbert, still feeling a little scared fired another barrage of magic arrows, while silver dragonborn Barbarian Argus continued to his barrage of attacks on the goblins.

The battle was over quickly with the group taking only a few minor wounds. Addellin investigated the dead goblins and found that it had two small puncture wounds. She quickly used her magic to heal the goblin before it died. The goblin was secured, and the group asked it why they had attacked the village. The goblin told the group it had been sent by a human master to find food. The food the master wanted was people. The goblin was turned over to the village guards and put in jail. It was then that Jomera came running into the camp, Terric her nephew had been abducted by goblins and bugbears that had attacked at another part of the village. “Please, we have to find him” she pleaded with the group.
