Friends Lost

The group studied the hand drawn map of Muskelon’s private museum. There were a lot of unknowns, like where the magical alarms were and if there were any traps. There was no doubt in the collective mind of the group that the security of the kingdom’s richest man’s private monument to his own hubris would be well protected. While Muskelon was incredibly wealthy he was known to have a fragile ego and did everything in his power to protect that inflated sense of self. Muskelon was also unscrupulous, and was rumoured to practice the same dark magical rituals that the Dharetti had used to destroy Okepian lands.

During the planning the group found out that there was going to be a gala at the museum that evening. It was an opportunity for people to look at the items up for auction the next night. Vorden using his families influence secured invitations for the group, and then the group bought some new clothes sop that they would be able to fit in.

Once inside the museum the group split up into two teams. The big team was comprised of Vorden, Sinas, and Shadow while the small team was made up of Sniddet, Thejun, and Johnathan. The big team went upstairs to get a look at the exhibits and locate exactly where the gem they were trying to recover would be. Johnathan started looking around the gallery while Thejun wild shaped into a mouse so he could slip into the office area. Sniddet cast detect magic and started looking for the magical traps. Johnathan met a woman named Penelope who took a liking to the halfling rogue. Smitten she clasped his hand and started showing him around the exhibits.

After locating all of the magical alrams and traps Sniddet went off to find Johnathan. Meanwhile Thejun began searching the offices and found a way into the basement where there was a lot of expensive looking items. He decided to return upstairs and tell Sniddet and Johnathan about what he found.

The big team looked around the upstairs noting different ways that they could get inside the secure room with all of the auction items. Vorden was able to get access into the room to look at the items on display. While he was looking, he started talking to another man looking at the items and found out that the ones on display were duplicates and that the real ones would be brought in over night to be set up for tomorrow.

The small team went back into the basement and started looking through the crates. Thejun found a secret tunnel and started exploring that with Johnathan. Then people were at the back door, Johnathan quickly closed the door to the hidden tunnel and Sniddet did his best to hide. Several men came in carrying crates, they set them down and then went upstairs. Johnathan and Thejun cam e back into the room as Sniddet was opening one of the crates. Inside the crate was the blue gem but as Sniddet reached for it the magical trap went off turning Sniddet to stone.

Thejun grabbed the blue gem, and it engulfed him much the same way it had Sinas. Then the door upstairs opened. Johnathan grabbed Thejun and started running down the secret tunnel. There was nothing he could do for Sniddet who was turned to stone.

The big team had some food and then went looking for the small team. Unable to find them the big team assumed they had gone back to Bergold’s home and they headed off to meet them. Once they reached Bergold’s home they realized something was wrong as the door was slightly ajar. They entered the house cautiously and found Bergold lying dead on the floor. A noise at the door startled Sinas and he sent his magical hammer flying towards the door. It just missed Bergold’s daughter Alinora. Alinora seeing her father dead was ready to attack the three men in her home, but the quick-thinking Shadow was able to diffuse the situation. Johnathan then entered the house half carrying Thejun. He told the group about Sniddet and now the group had to make some choices.
