Family Reunion

The group was feeling a little demoralized. Sniddet had been turned to stone and was in Muskelon’s possession. Bergold was dead and they were not sure what to do. Alinora was angry about her father’s death and still seemed suspicious of Sinas. The group decided to look for clues and it was Alinora that found a set of faint bloody footprints leading out the back door. The group tried their best to follow them but eventually they footprints were a dead end.

The group returned to Bergold’s home and searched for other clues. Thejun found a stack of letters from the Okepian Historical and Archaeological Society (OHAS). The letters were sent to Bergold in regard to a heartshaped pendant with a purple gemstone, and the description matched that of the red and blue heart shaped pendants the group had already found. The first letters seemed pleasant, a request for Bergold’s assistance, but the letters grew increasingly terse with the last letter being quite threatening.

The group also found a bloody knife, which Alinora was able to identify as belonging to Artemes. Alinora said that she had never liked Artemes. She always worried about what trouble he might have gotten her father into. For Vorden it confirmed his earlier suspicions, Artemes was a prime suspect. Perhaps he was working for the Okepian Historical and Archaeological Society.

There was really only thing the group could do, and that was go to the head quarters of the OHAS. For Vorden this meant returning to the city of Physt, his hometown, and possibly having to deal with his mother. Perhaps if they were quiet, they could slip into the city and out before his mother even knew he was there. Alinora decided to travel with the group and help search for her father’s killer, she wanted revenge. It took a week for the group to get to Physt.

Vorden stood shaking in disbelief, standing beside him was his exact duplicate. It was Alinora using some sort of magical disguise. The guards seemed suspicious, so Alinora used the spell again this time making herself appear as a silver dragonborn. She apologized to the guards for her prank and the guards let the group into the city.

Unfortunately for Vorden things started to get worse. He had hoped to avoid anybody he knew and yet within a minute of entering the city he ran into his sister Laura. Worse yet, Alinora still disguised as a silver dragonborn, told Laura that her and Vorden were engaged. When Vorden insisted they were not engaged, Alinora pretended to be upset and stormed off crying. The gnome woman seemed to think all of this was a joke.

Laura insisted that Vorden and his friends come to the house for dinner. Things were not going as he had hoped. Thejun and Shadow seemed excited at the idea of having dinner with his family, well they had not met his mother. Alinora and Laura were actually getting along, which worried Vorden. It seemed that there would be not choice in the matter now. The group headed towards his family home, the grand palace of Physt. Whether he liked it or not Vorden would have to speak with his mother. She was associated with the OHAS, so maybe she could be of some help.
