Blueterion Makes a New Friend

Honkess fired two lightning arrows from her Dragon Wing bow, the plunge into the gelatinous cube and the lightning rippled through the creature causing it to explode. Acidic goo flew through the air and the creature was at last killed. The group stayed a little more vigilant as they found a better place to sleep. They woke up and went through the secret room that Shadow had found. The door on the other side of the room led to a staircase. They climbed the stairs and found themselves on the back side of a secret door. On the other side of the door they could hear voices. It was two of Frodnonag's mercenaries.

"I'm telling you Kel we should just get out of here most everyone else is dead" said Derrick.

"If Frodnonag found out we would both be dead Derrick" said Kel.

"He is probably dead or in the process of it, the place is a maze and deadly. There is a good chance Frodnonag is upstairs dead".

"He's too tough for that"

"If he does survive and that is a big if Kel, he will likely just assume we are dead like all the others. Look I have a stash, I have been keeping a little extra for you know hard times. You and I, we can use that to get our own group started".

"Well its a bit about loyalty and all, we said we would follow him and here we are. If he finds the whatsit he is after he is going to reward those that are loyal to him. But if you want to leave you can".

"You won't say anything will you" asked Derrick?

"Ain't worth the trouble I reckon" replied Kel

"You are good guy Kel;.;.. Argh why"

"Loyalty is important Derrick, loyalty is important".

The group listened to the conversation and it sounded as if one of the mercenaries had just murdered the other. The group opened the secret door to confront the killer. Morisha let go with an eldritch blast that hit the big dragonborn mercenary. The eldritch bolt causing the air around everyone to ripple in a strange purple and pink shimmer. Aust changed into his owlbear form and attacked, his claws and beak doing extreme damage. By the time Blueterion followed up with her axe the big mercenary was done.

Blueterion then heard a voice, it was muffled and barely above a whisper but she could hear it coming from the room across the hall. She went to the door and entered the next room. It was a large room with a dining table at one end and a sitting area at the other. A long blue ornate rug was under the dining table and another round ornate rug rested on the floor in the sitting area. Morisha had no intention of going near either of the rugs at this point, went to examine the door leading out of the room.

Blueterion could hear the voice, it was a little louder but still faint. It seemed to be coming from the opposite side of the room but there was nothing there besides a row of portraits of people that clearly thought they were important. Aust in owlbear form caught the scent of something and started sniffing around the wall. Blueterion noticing this moved closer and the voice grew louder. After some checking she found a painting that was lever for yet another secret door.

Honkess and Shadow had become concerned with the wellbeing of Derrick. They had gone to the man's aid and tried their best to patch up his wound. He was near death but still alive. they them carried him into the room and laid him on the table, by this time Morisha had gone through the door into the next room while Blueterion and Aust had disappeared into the room beyond the secret door.

In the secret room there was a round table with maps and markers on top of it. Several bookshelves lined the walls of the room, with shelves filled with books and other curiosities. On a shelf was a large clear crystal, the voice was coming from it. Blueterion picked it up and looked at the crystal, when she looked close she could see a tiny gold dragon moving around inside. A wizard had trapped it in the crystal years earlier and now it wanted her to help get it out. Blueterion agreed to help the trapped dragon.

Shadow growing bored with the room decided to wander down the hall and search for anything interesting. He opened the door to a room and started looking around. He found a couple chests and started looking through them. The first couple had some gold and other useful things, but then he came upon a chest that was actually a mimic. The mimic grabbed a hold of him and started biting him. He screamed out and Aust and Morisha came running to help.
